I was given rare access to one of the UK’s most private car collections, a collection that almost never gets photographed, let alone shared publicly. I wanted to showcase two of the most significant new Ferraris money can currently buy, both finished in the same stunning Rosso Magma. The F80 is one of the first to arrive in the UK, and it was sitting alongside an SP3 Daytona.
Rosso Magma is a deep, complex red that shifts dramatically as the light changes, and the evening light on the night I visited was exactly what you’d hope for. What struck me most was how different these two cars are despite coming from the same brand and wearing the same paint. The SP3 Daytona is old school Ferrari in the best possible sense with beautiful curvaceous bodywork, a naturally aspirated V12, and a design that feels like a love letter to the endurance racers of the 1960s. The F80, on the other hand, hits you immediately. It’s a sharp technical statement with aggressive aero, visible engineering, and a design that’s totally new and unique. Both are imposing. Both are impressive. But they speak completely different languages.
I’m grateful to the owners for trusting me with their private collection. Shoots like this don’t come around often, and I don’t take them for granted.
